Like many of Girard's prints, June takes inspiration from Girard's life. While working at Herman Miller in Zeeland, Michigan, he developed a particular affinity for the area's wild poppy fields, which notably come into bloom during June. Here, Girard renders a poppy field with fluorescent red flowers, dark turquoise stalks, and a subtle cream ground.
To continue Girard’s emphasis of quality craftsmanship, Gitman had June meticulously reengineered by their Italian partner mill on a summer-weight 100% cotton poplin. Each color was matched to its original Pantone, and extra care was taken to ensure pigments hold fast and resist bleeding. This is the first time June has been printed on clothing.

About Gitman Vintage
While Gitman Bros. wasn't on the books until 1978, the Gitmans had been sewing shirts and PJs on contract since 1932.
Gitman Vintage spun off in 2008, revisiting old Gitman linebooks and archives to make old new again. The results are inherently classic in style.
