Family+Dinner

"Where Great People Meet and Eat"

Recently the Porterhouse crew got out and about and had the pleasure of dining in at one of Eugene's newest restaurants. On the far east edge of the Whiteaker neighborhood you'll find Family+Dinner. It shares the space with Headquarters Wine Bar. Together they coexist harmoniously to bring amazing food and drink and an atmosphere conducive to great conversation and good times.

Our table of seven was attended to thoughtfully throughout the evening by both Chef B, the architect behind the carefully planned out dinner menu, and Aaron Schwartz, who brought us two bottles of Italian wine to pair nicely with our meal.

The meal was a combination of bites inspired by Japanese and Thai food you'd find at farms and drinking dens in the respective countries. See pictures below for some good examples.

Chef B makes it a point to source food that is local to the Willamette Valley. To give one example, the bread all comes baked fresh from La Mouette, a bakery located just a couple blocks from the restaurant. This was my first time ever hearing about La Mouette (I have been living under a rock), but finding this out from my experience at Family+Dinner is the type of value a place like this brings to the table - aside from delicious and flavorful bites.

It's not just the bread though. It's the oysters from Netarts Bay, the brussel sprouts from Walterville, even the hot chilies from here in Eugene. The level of attention to detail and thought that is given to every ingredient is amazing and it shines through in each dish. It's a curation of the best bounties that the Willamette Valley and surrounding area yields. Family+Dinner is both a celebration and an appreciation of and for our valley.

Next time you need a place to gather with friends or you just need a good honest bite, consider coming to Family+Dinner. You're guaranteed to run into one of us here.
