A Gitman Vintage spring/summer collection is never complete without archival Madras fabrics. This style, however, is remade from a fabric archived at Gitman's partner mill in Chennai (formerly Madras), India. Although theey don't know the exact year that this fabric was originally introduced, they've been told it dates to the late 70's.
Just like the original fabric, this style is completely handwoven with hand-dyed yarns. Rich earth tones lend a distinctly vintage appearance to the style, hinting at the decade in which it was originally released.

About Gitman Vintage
While Gitman Bros. wasn't on the books until 1978, the Gitmans had been sewing shirts and PJs on contract since 1932.
Gitman Vintage spun off in 2008, revisiting old Gitman linebooks and archives to make old new again. The results are inherently classic in style.
