Orange Broken Dobby Plaid
Orange Broken Dobby Plaid
Description
Description
What appears as a standard plaid at first glance is revealed to be an incomprehensibly complex dobby weave that seems to break with all standard fabric conventions. The fabric masters at Gitman Vintage's partner mill in Japan found a way to create an irregular weave that does not repeat, and instead uses a completely randomized structure. This isn't a 2x2 like hopsack or oxford, nor is it a 3x3 like our triple yarns. Instead, it's a 5x1 in one place, a 1x1 in another, a 2x3 somewhere else, and so on.
This chaotic yet organic weave calls to mind TV static, spider webs, or even shattered glass. It makes for a truly killer shirt.
About Gitman Vintage
About Gitman Vintage
While Gitman Bros. wasn't on the books until 1978, the Gitmans had been sewing shirts and PJs on contract since 1932.
Gitman Vintage spun off in 2008, revisiting old Gitman linebooks and archives to make old new again. The results are inherently classic in style.

Perfect fall shirt. Great colors, the fabric is really interesting to the touch and is comfortable. Size is spot on.
